Heinz Ahrens

Heinrich Walter Heinz Ahrens (born March 12, 1935 in Rheine in the Münsterland , † December 25, 2017 in Memmingen ) was a German industrial manager.

Life

After graduating from high school, Heinz Ahrens completed an apprenticeship at Sparkasse Rheine and worked as an audit assistant. After studying business administration from 1955 to 1959, he was in 1960 at the Westfälische Wilhelms-University Münster with the work The importance of the operating variable costs and revenue for Dr. rer. pole. PhD. He was a research assistant and from 1961 Managing Director of the Institute of Occupational finance and taxation at the University of Munster in 1963, he joined the Bank CG Trinkaus in Dusseldorf. From 1959 to 1967 he also taught general business administration, accounting and taxes at the University of Münster.

In 1967 he became managing director of Agria-Werke , a manufacturer of power tools in Möckmühl . In 1970 he became managing director, later board spokesman, of Stetter , the world's largest manufacturer of truck mixers at the time. In 1981 he was brought to Xaver Fendt + Co. , an owner-managed tractor manufacturer based in Marktoberdorf in the Allgäu , as a renovator, and was spokesman for the management until 1986 and chairman of the advisory board of Fendt from 1993 to 1997. Ahrens initiated the takeover of Fendt and its whereabouts in Marktoberdorf by the global US agricultural machinery group AGCO Corporation . In 1986 he moved to Karl Kaessbohrer Fahrzeugwerke GmbH in Ulm as Chairman of the Management Board . He succeeded owner Karl Kässbohrer and was responsible for the commercial vehicles and off-road vehicles product areas as well as technology. He held various supervisory board mandates, such as at apetito AG (chairman of the supervisory board and advisory board 1992–2007), Paul Hartmann Group and Rathgeber AG or Grammer AG. He was chairman of the advisory board of the Franz Xaver Meiller vehicle and machine factory GmbH & Co KG in Munich and a member of the foundation board of the Hochschule für Gestaltung HfG Ulm .

Ahrens had been a member of the SPD since 1971 and was involved in the city council of Memmingen (1972–1978, 1978–1981, 1990–1996). From 1978 to 1981 Ahrens was parliamentary group chairman in the Memmingen city council. He was particularly committed to the reorganization of the municipal utilities.

Heinz Ahrens was involved in numerous social projects in the Holy Land and was a member of the German Association of the Holy Land . In 1993 Ahrens was appointed Knight of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master Giuseppe Caprio and invested in the Papal Lay Order on May 15, 1993 in the Augsburg Cathedral by Bishop Anton Schlembach , Grand Prior of the German Lieutenancy . Ahrens was for many years the chief commander of the Ravensburg commandery; last he was a Grand Officer of the order. He was also committed to the Caritas welfare station in Memmingen and was its partner's spokesman.

Ahrens had been married since 1959; the marriage has three children.
