Heinz Boehme

Heinz Böhme (born January 28, 1929 in Dresden ) is a former major general in the air force of the National People's Army of the German Democratic Republic .

Life

Heinz Böhme, son of a carpenter, began after the school in 1943, a professional training and worked as his father until 1948 as a carpenter journeyman . In 1946 he became a member of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED) and on September 15, 1948, he joined the armed organs , namely the People's Police founded by the Soviet Military Administration (SMAD) . From 1948 to 1950 he was a security policeman , guard shift leader and group leader in the People's Police Department in Dresden. After he was head of the operational department of the People's Police Department in Apolda from 1950 to 1951 , he served as chief of staff at the Zeithain People’s Police Department from 1951 to 1952 and as head of the mechanics school in Kamenz from 1952 to 1953 .

In 1953 Böhme was an officer auditor at the Pirna Officers School and then between 1953 and 1956 head of the operational department of the Aeroklub Bautzen . After the establishment of the Air Force of the National People's Army on March 1, 1956, he was head of the operational department of the Air Force Administration (LSK) between 1956 and 1957 and then deputy head of the central command post of the air force / air defense (LSK / LV) from 1957 to 1959. . From 1959 to 1963 he was then employed as deputy commander and chief of staff of the 1st Air Defense Division in Cottbus . He was then from 1963 to 1966 a graduate of the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the USSR and graduated with a degree in military science. After his return, he succeeded Colonel Manfred Lange as commander of the 3rd Air Defense Division in Trollenhagen on October 1, 1966 and remained in this post until August 31, 1970, when Major General Kurt Rappmann succeeded him. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the founding of the GDR on October 7, 1969, Colonel Böhm was promoted to major general.

Most recently, Major General Heinz Böhme was named Prof. Dr. rer. mil. Successor of Major General Heinz-Bernhard Zorn as Commander of the Air Force / Air Defense Section at the Friedrich Engels Military Academy in Dresden . He held this position until his release on July 31, 1990. For his services in the GDR he was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in silver and the battle medal “For Merit to People and Fatherland” in silver.
