Heinz Glaser (politician)

Heinz Glaser (born January 18, 1920 in Dresden ; † July 29, 1978 there ) was a German KPD and SED functionary. He was the first secretary of the SED district leadership in Halle and Gera .

Life

Glaser, the son of a small trader, attended elementary school and trained as a locksmith , after which he worked in the profession. In 1932/33 he belonged to the Dresden-Neustadt workers' sports club . In 1934/35 he studied at the technical college . From 1941 to 1945 he did military service in the Wehrmacht .

In 1945 he became a member of the KPD and headed the cadre department of the KPD Dresden- Radeberg . From June 1945 to 1946 he worked in the state executive committee of the KPD Saxony . In 1946 he became a member of the SED. From 1947 to December 1949 he worked as a teacher and seminar leader at the SED state party school in Ottendorf near Sebnitz and as a consultant in the state board of the SED Saxony. From 1949 he was a member of the secretariat of the SED district leadership in Dresden. From October 1950 to January 1952 Glaser acted as second secretary of the SED state leadership in Saxony and from May 1951 to 1952 he was a member of the state parliament (from July 1951 also chairman of the SED parliamentary group). From February to August 1952 Glaser headed the department for governing bodies at the SED Central Committee , then until September 1954 he was first secretary of the SED district leadership in Halle and a member of the district assembly there. At the same time, Glaser was chairman of the Halle district committee of the GDR's National Front from 1952 to 1954 . In March 1953, Glaser was part of the GDR delegation that took part in the funeral ceremonies on the occasion of Josef Stalin's funeral in Moscow .

After attending the party college of the CPSU in Moscow in 1954/55 he worked from September 1955 to August 1959 as first secretary of the SED district leadership in Gera. Because of "insufficient collective work and disregard of party decisions" he was released from this position. At the same time, his mandate as a member of the Gera District Assembly, to which he had been a member since 1956, was revoked. From October 1959 he worked first as an editor at the Sächsische Zeitung (until 1964), then again as a locksmith in various companies in Dresden. In March 1967 he was expelled from the SED. From January 1976 to June 1977 Glaser was still an employee of the Dresden State Archives and was then disabled in July 1977.
