Heinz Löhn

Heinz Löhn (born August 16, 1934 in Eberswalde ) is a former German diplomat . He was the GDR's ambassador to Ecuador and Colombia .

Life

Löhn completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk . From 1951 to 1953 he studied at the College of Foreign Trade in Plessow with a degree as a foreign trade economist , from 1954 to 1958 at the Berlin School of Economics with a degree in economics.

From 1953 he was an employee of the GDR foreign trade apparatus. In 1953/1954 he worked for the German domestic and foreign trade company (DIA) Kompensation and from 1968 to 1960 he worked for DIA Maschinenexport. In 1960 he worked for a short time in the Trade with Latin America department at the Ministry for Foreign Trade and Internal German Trade (MAI). From 1960 to 1964 he worked as a delegate to the GDR trade mission in Colombia. Between 1964 and 1967 he was Sector Head of Trade with Latin America at the MAI. From 1967 to 1971 he headed the trade representation of the GDR in Mexico City as a trade councilor , then from 1972 to 1981 he worked in the foreign trade department of the SED Central Committee . In 1981/1982 he worked as an employee in the Latin America department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the GDR (MfAA). From 1982 to 1986 he was ambassador of the GDR in Quito and from 1986 to 1989 ambassador to Bogotá . In 1989/1990 he worked as a sector manager in the Latin America department at the MfAA.

Löhn was a member of the SED .
