Walter Weber (diplomat, 1934)

Walter Weber (born July 24, 1934 in Radelübbe ) is a former German diplomat . He was the GDR's ambassador to Colombia and Ecuador .

Life

From 1951 to 1955 Weber attended the agricultural technical schools in Lübenheen and Ludwigslust . He then studied from 1957 to 1959 at the Institute for Economics in Neugattersleben . He completed his studies as an agronomist. Weber worked in agriculture and in the state apparatus, first graduated from the SED party college from 1964 to 1967 with a degree in social science, and then in 1972 he completed a degree in foreign policy at the German Academy for Political Science and Law . From 1967 to 1972 he served as first deputy chairman of the council of the Hagenow district .

In 1973 he joined the diplomatic service of the GDR. He was a research assistant in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the GDR . From July 1973 to 1980 he was ambassador of the GDR in Bogotá and from January 1974 to November 1975 he was also accredited as the first ambassador of the GDR to Ecuador. From 1980 to 1990 he headed the Agriculture Department in the Hagenow District Council.
