Heinz Albin Hermann Lohse (born October 6, 1928 in Leipzig ) is a German mathematician and educationalist .

Life

Heinz Lohse attended the Humboldt School in Leipzig from 1939 to his Abitur in 1947 and was one of four students who saved the school from the heavy bombing on December 4, 1943 . From 1947 to 1952 he studied mathematics as a major (with Herbert Beckert , Ernst Hölder and Walter Schnee ) as well as physics (with Friedrich Hund ) and geography (with Ernst Neef ) as secondary subjects at the University of Leipzig .

From 1952 to 1964 he worked as a teacher at secondary schools in Leipzig. From his preoccupation with cybernetics and computing technology since 1958, the introduction of the job description "technical computer" resulted. Twelve of his students were the first in Germany to become skilled workers for technical computing at the same time as they graduated from high school.

In 1964 Lohse became a research assistant at the Institute for Psychology " Wilhelm Wundt " at the University of Leipzig. The main areas of his teaching and research activities were mathematics, research statistics, programmed teaching and learning (pedagogical-psychological foundations of e-learning ), teaching and learning software and educational psychology .

In 1969 he received his doctorate , in 1971 he obtained the Facultas Docendi for mathematics and cybernetics and in 1975 his habilitation ( doctorate B ). From 1971 to 1980 he was also a university lecturer for the methodology of university teaching , which, in contrast to the methodology for general schools, had a certain singularity. In 1973/74 he completed additional studies in research methodology and educational cybernetics at the Lomonossow University in Moscow , in particular with Professors Boris Wladimirowitsch Gnedenko (mathematics / statistics), Talysina (psychology) and Landa (cybernetics, pedagogy).

As head of the working group “Programmed Mathematikunterricht” he was significantly involved in the large-scale experiments of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences to introduce programmed learning and the electronic pocket calculator into school lessons in the 1970s . In 1980 he was actively involved in the preparation and implementation of the XXII. World Congress for Psychology in Leipzig.

From 1981 to 1993 he held a professorship with a chair for teaching methodology in data processing at the Technical University of Dresden , Vocational Pedagogy Section (after the reunification, the Faculty of Educational Sciences with the professorship of subject didactics in mathematics / computer science). Educational science and professional education were his main fields of work here.

Until 1990 he was a member of the Society for Psychology in the GDR, until 1989 of the Society for Mathematics and since 1990 of the Society for Didactics of Mathematics .

Since his retirement in 1993 he has been giving lectures and working on projects. In 1997 he was one of the initiators, then the designer, long-time director and academic companion of the Senioren @ns Netz project, in which high school students at up to 60 schools introduced older people to the use of personal computers. Numerous computer clubs were formed from participants in these courses.

Until 2007 he was a member of the selection committee for the promotion of gifted students within the Friedrich Naumann Foundation .

Heinz Lohse has four children from two previous marriages.
