Heinz Pommer

Heinz Pommer (born March 24, 1929 in Gera ; † November 24, 2004 ) was a major general of the Ministry for State Security (MfS). He was head of the MfS district administration in Suhl and head of the office of the central management of SV Dynamo .

Life

The son of a stoker and a housewife completed an apprenticeship as a fitter after attending elementary school from 1943 to 1946.

He worked as a fitter until 1946, but switched to construction and transport in 1947. In 1948 he found a job with the Thuringia / East Inspection of the People's Police (VP). In 1948 Pommer joined the SED . In 1949/50 he attended the VP School for Criminology and was subsequently hired in 1951 by the MfS's Gera district office (KD). Later he moved to Department IX (investigative body) of the Thuringian state administration and became deputy head of department there in 1952. 1954 moved to the district administration (BV) Leipzig , where he took over the management of department IX. From 1960 to 1963 he completed a distance learning course at the German Academy for State and Law (DASR) Potsdam and continued this from 1964 at the Humboldt University in Berlin . In 1966 he acquired the title of qualified lawyer with a thesis on the subject of the summary of the investigation results in the final report on state crimes . In 1964 he became the deputy operational manager of the BV Leipzig. In 1973 he received his doctorate with Wolfgang Schwanitz at the University of the Ministry of State Security in Golm to Dr. jur. with a collective dissertation on the subject of qualifying political-operational work to combat hostile phenomena among young people in the GDR . In 1975 he was appointed officer for special tasks and shortly afterwards took over the management of BV Suhl . 1980 Pommer was appointed major general and from 1981 was again officer for special tasks.

In 1982 he was entrusted with the management of the central management office of SV Dynamo Berlin. He thus took over from Colonel Heinz Eggebrecht, who had retired for reasons of age . In May 1984 he was elected a member of the Presidium of the Federal Executive Board of the DTSB and, in addition to managing the SV Dynamo, was also involved in securing competitive sports and involved in GDR state doping. In the course of the change in the GDR , Pommer was released from his position in November 1989 and finally dismissed in January 1990. Since then, Pommer has lived as a pensioner in Berlin-Hohenschönhausen .
