Heinz Wolff (architect)

Heinz Arthur Wolff (born April 14, 1909 in Braunschweig ; † after 1983) was a German architect and urban planner in Braunschweig and chief curator in Hanover .

Heinz Wolff was born as the son of the Braunschweig engineer Conrad Wolff. He attended the Gaußschule in Braunschweig, where he passed the Abitur in 1928 . Wolff then studied architecture at the Technical University of Braunschweig (TH) until 1933 , graduating with a diploma in 1932 . He first worked as an assistant at the Department of Building Construction of TH and in 1935 with his thesis The history of Braunschweig Bastionärbefestigung doctorate .

Shortly after the end of the Second World War , in 1945 he received a work permit from the British military authorities to work as an architect and town planner in his hometown. He later moved to Hanover, where in 1956 he designed the promenade along the Leine parallel to the Am Hohen Ufer street .

Wolff described the demolition of the Villa Willmer in Hanover in 1971 as "a cultural disgrace for Lower Saxony."
