Helbigsdorf was first mentioned in a document in 1378. Helbigsdorf is a Waldhufendorf . Until 1547 Helbigsdorf belonged to the Castrum Meißen , then to the Hereditary Office Meißen . From 1696, the Meissen Hereditary Office and the Dresden Office each had a share in the community. The basic rule was also split share had the manor Weistropp and the manor Rothschönberg. Since 1952 Helbigsdorf was in the area of the Freital district (later the district ). Between 1899 and 1972 the place had a connection to the narrow-gauge railway Freital-Potschappel-Nossen .

On January 1, 1974, the place Blankenstein was incorporated. Helbigsdorf was renamed Helbigsdorf-Blankenstein on December 1, 1994 . Since 1994 Helbigsdorf has belonged to the district of Meißen . On January 1, 1996, the place was incorporated into Wilsdruff. In 1998 Wilsdruff and thus also Helbigsdorf-Blankenstein were assigned to the Weißeritz district .
