The Type 35 is a type of coaster from the Sietas shipyard in Hamburg-Neuenfelde . From late 1962 to early 1964, the Heimwärts and Helios II, two units of this series, were built. The Helios II has been used as an island supplier in the liner service between Cuxhaven and Helgoland since spring 1991 . It was named Helgoland in early 2008 .
history
The first type 35 ship , Heimwärts , ordered by the Hamburg shipowner Wilhelm Grigoleit , was launched on December 15, 1962 with hull number 514 and was delivered to the shipyard on December 31, 1962. The Dubrovnik- based Yugoslav shipping company Atlantska Plovidba acquired the ship in 1971 and then used it as an island supplier in the Adriatic under the name Lopud . After the founding of the state of Croatia , the Lopud sailed under the Croatian flag with her home port Dubrovnik. It was scrapped in Croatia in April 2013.
The second type 35 ship was ordered by the shipowner Hinrich Bahr from Schnee (a district of Stade since 1972 ) and laid down in 1963 with hull number 488 . On January 11, 1964, it was launched and baptized in the name of Helios II . Completion and delivery took place on February 1, 1964. The Helios II , registered at that time with home port Hamburg, was passed on to Wilhelm Bahr, the son of the shipowner, in 1967. On behalf of Norddeutsche Salinen GmbH, it regularly transported packaged salt from Stade to Sweden from 1974 to 1990 . In October 1978 and in the 1980s the Helios II was rebuilt several times. On January 4, 1991, Hans Carl Rickmers & Jörn Rickmers acquired the ship and then used it for their company, the Helgoland Freight-Kontor, twice a week to transport freight between Cuxhaven and Helgoland . The Helgoland freight office and the berth of the ship were at Meinkenkai in Cuxhaven until August 2000. After its closure, the company moved to the Nordseekai, where the ship's berth has since been located. In the summer of 2006, the Helgoland freight office, which was then managed by Ingo Rickmers, became the owner of the Helios II itself .
In January 2008, Karl Meyer Umweltdienste GmbH, a subsidiary of Karl Meyer AG , acquired the Helgoland freight office along with the Helios II . The ship was named Helgoland in February 2008 . The shipping company Karl Meyer GmbH & Co. KG, which also belongs to Karl Meier AG, was registered as the owner of the ship. The ship will continue to be used as an island supplier and disposal company in the year-round liner service twice a week between Cuxhaven and the North Sea island for the transport of general cargo . At the Nordseekai in the old fishing port of Cuxhaven, Helgoland has its own handling zone .
technology
The Type 35 is an open deck with an original length of 42.79 meters and a width of 7.52 meters. The original draft was 2.40 meters. Upon delivery, the ships were measured with 249 GRT and a deadweight of 459 dwt . The drive consists of a six-cylinder four-stroke diesel engine of the type SA 6 M 528 from Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz (KHD) with an output of 290 hp . This acts on a fixed propeller . The Type 35 reaches a speed of 9.0 knots . The crew consists of up to seven people.
After the loading gear had already been removed, the Helios II was rebuilt for the first time in 1978, with the side walls and hatch coaming being increased and folding hatch covers installed. In 1984 she received a new deckhouse and in 1985 a bulbous bow , which increased her total length to 45.52 meters. The ship has an 18.00 m long, 5.10 m wide and 2.80 m high hold with 719 m³ of grain volume (25,411 cubic feet ). The tank cover is designed for a load of 5 t / m². In the 1990s the Helios II was registered with 385 GT , 430 tdw and 2.85 m draft .
The Lopud was re-measured in 1996 with 296 GT and 430 tdw . After removing the original loading gear, she received a loading crane mounted amidships .
