Stadler GTW 2/6 from Hellertalbahn GmbH

The Hellertalbahn GmbH (proper spelling) was a railway company (PSC), which from 1999 to 2015 the rail transport on the railway line Betzdorf-Haiger has operated.

The company was founded on July 19, 1999 by the Westerwaldbahn des Kreis Altenkirchen (WEBA) , the former Siegener Kreisbahn and the Hessische Landesbahn , each of which held a third of the share capital . The consortium had previously won the tender for local rail passenger transport on the Hellertalbahn between Betzdorf and Dillenburg. On September 26, 1999, the company was taken over by DB Regio . The company used articulated railcars of the Stadler GTW 2/6 type. With the timetable change on December 13, 2015, local transport operations were handed over to the Hessische Landesbahn, which won the tender for the Eifel-Westerwald-Sieg network.

Hellertalbahn GmbH was a member of the transport associations VRM , RMV , VRS and VGWS .

The head office was in Betzdorf ; further ticket and information desks were located in the train stations of Burbach , Neunkirchen and Würgendorf (these are managed by the DB ).
