Thomas Preissler

Thomas "Tom" Preissler (* 1958 in Berlin ; also written Preißler ) is a German drummer, composer and reciter.

Life

He studied classical percussion and composition at the “Hanns Eisler” University of Music in Berlin , but was forcibly de-registered from there in 1977 for political reasons and banned from the house. In 1978, in the course of Tilo Medek's expatriation , he and his father Wolfgang Preissler were “released from the citizenship of the GDR ” and moved to the FRG. After completing his studies at the Hochschule der Künste Berlin , Preissler worked as a freelance musician, teacher and lecturer ( University of Potsdam ) for percussion instruments. a. with the Berliner Philharmoniker , theDeutsche Oper Berlin , the Theater des Westens and the Philharmonia Hungarica . Since then, Preissler has composed numerous pieces of music for radio play and television productions for ARD , works as artistic director and studio musician in music productions in the jazz and pop sectors, as a juror in music competitions, and as a coach for musicians, actors and directors.

Preissler is also known for readings of prose and poetry , lectures on the history of percussion instruments and gong concerts. Since 2007 he has been the author of his own prose and poetry.
