Hellmut Ippen

Hellmut Ippen (born March 15, 1925 in Stettin , † March 13, 1998 in Göttingen ) was a German dermatologist .

Ippen studied medicine and chemistry at the University of Hamburg , where he received his doctorate in 1954. He completed his habilitation in 1958 in Düsseldorf , where he was appointed adjunct professor of dermatology and venereology in 1965 . In 1974 he became director of the University Dermatology Clinic in Göttingen , whose management he shared with Klaus Bosse and H. Berger after subsequent restructuring . Until his retirement in 1993, he was a full professor of dermatology and venereology.

His research interests were in the range of porphyria , the light biology , dermatology pharmacology and occupational skin diseases, particularly contact allergies . In the course of his career, Hellmut Ippen has published over 300 specialist articles.
