Life

Helma von Feldmann grew up in Hamburg and came to Baden-Württemberg in 1943 , where she later took up residence in Freiberg am Neckar . She received her artistic training at the Werkkunstschule Hamburg , at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg and at the International Summer Academy for Fine Arts in Salzburg . She also studied with Franz Anton Coufal ( Vienna ), Gino Bogoni ( Verona ) and Francesco Somaini ( Como ).

The artist also worked from 1945 to 1951 as a radio editor and head of women's radio at Süddeutscher Rundfunk.

Work as head of women's radio (1945 - 1951)

Helma von Feldmann came to Stuttgart in 1943. She initially worked there for a political advertising company. After the war ended, she got in touch with the radio, which was then under American control. After submitting some of her manuscripts, she was hired by Radio Stuttgart . Here, after a short time, she was appointed head of women's radio, which first went on air on January 7, 1946 with the program "Haus und Heim".

As a radio editor, Helma von Feldmann was particularly keen to deal with social issues and the lifestyle of women. In the immediate post-war period, the women's program at Radio Stuttgart (renamed Süddeutscher Rundfunk (SDR) from 1950 ) dealt with questions of coping with everyday life under the desolate framework conditions immediately after the Second World War - for example, with questions of food supply, the search for accommodation or the search for Relatives.

As head of women's radio, von Feldmann developed many new radio series, such as: “For women”, “Winke und Kniffe”, “We want to help” (to support people in need), “From the realm of women” or “The woman in public Life".
