Helmut Hroß

Helmut Hroß (born December 25, 1930 in Brno , Moravia / ČSR ; † December 26, 2019 in Eichstätt ) was a German educator and author . Hroß was director of the Willibald grammar school in Eichstätt ( Bavaria ) and ministerial representative in Regensburg for the grammar schools in the Upper Palatinate.

Life

Helmut Hroß was the son of the district court director Josef Hroß. He attended elementary school and the German humanistic grammar school in Brno (Moravia) until it closed in winter 1944/45. Before the Red Army marched in , he fled Brno with his mother and siblings and came to Bavaria in April 1946 after his final expulsion. At the Humanistic Gymnasium in Kempten (Allgäu) , he passed his matriculation examination in 1951 and then devoted himself to studying classical philology and German at the University of Munich and the University of Freiburg im Breisgau . 1956 he put in Munichthe scientific state exam, two years later, he with a dissertation on the subject of the actions of the abandoned Heroides in Latin literature Dr. phil. PhD. After completing the two years of legal traineeship and passing the second state examination (1958), he came to the Johann-Michael-Sailer-Gymnasium in Dillingen , where he worked as a teacher for Latin , Greek and German and as a supervisory teacher at the school until his appointment to Eichstätt practicing trainee lawyers. From the school year 1971/72 he took over the management of the Willibald-Gymnasium Eichstätt. With Helmut Hroß, a man was appointed to head the school for the first time, who came from a displaced family and therefore only found a new home as a result of the war and post-war events in Bavaria.

Under the direction of senior studies director Helmut Hroß (headmaster from 1971) the new construction of today's Willibald-Gymnasium Eichstätt (Bavaria) and the move from the three old parts of the building to the new building complex in the Schottenau, Eichstätt took place.

Helmut Hroß was also the deputy chairman of the Eichstätter Universitätsgesellschaft eV, d. H. of the Society of Friends and Supporters of the Catholic University of Eichstätt , and from 1984 Ministerial Commissioner in Regensburg for the 35 high schools in the Upper Palatinate. In Bavaria he was responsible for the state school competitions in the ancient languages. Hroß was a co-founder of the Association of Friends of the Willibald Gymnasium Eichstätt, which was established in 1971, and was its 2nd chairman for a decade.

A few annotated text editions, published by well-known publishers, and numerous publications on the history of humanism , high school education and philosophical or philological questions in several journals have given him a well-respected name in professional circles.
