Henning Brütt (born August 14, 1888 in Altona ; † January 24, 1979 in Hamburg ) was a German surgeon, urologist and neurosurgeon.

Life

Brütts father was the classical philologist and high school professor Maximilian Brütt from Dithmarschen. He was the director of the secondary school in Hamburg-Uhlenhorst and was appointed high school councilor. The mother was Emma Brütt born. Strider .

Henning Brütt attended the Johanneum School of Academics . After graduating from high school, he studied medicine at the Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich , the Philipps University of Marburg , the Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg and the Ruprecht Karls University of Heidelberg . In Heidelberg he passed the state examination in 1911 and was awarded a Dr. med. PhD. Approved in 1913 , he went to the Eppendorf General Hospital as a trainee doctor and assistant doctor . As early as 1914 he became chairman of the doctors and pharmacists casino in the AK Eppendorf. His teachers were Eugen Fraenkel (pathology), Theodor Rumpel and Carl Hegler (internal medicine) and Walter Rüder (gynecology). He became a surgeon with Hermann Kümmell and Paul Sudeck . Kümmell made him senior physician with urological tasks in 1919. In 1920 Brütt qualified as a professor in surgery. Five years later he was appointed extraordinary professor. From 1930 to 1957 he was medical director of the port hospital . In the last 18 years of his activity he has devoted himself to neurosurgery . The collaboration with Max Nonne and Heinrich Pette and study stays in the United States and with Herbert Olivecrona in Sweden made him one of the first and most important neurosurgeons in Germany. In 1938, 1948, 1952 and 1955 he headed the 57th, 62nd, 70th and 76th meetings of the Association of Northwest German Surgeons . From 1950 to 1953 he was its secretary (= president). After retiring from civil service, he continued to operate for years in the hospitals of Bethanien, Jerusalem and Am Andreasbrunnen. He died at the age of 90.
