Henning Christian von Mellin

Henning Christian von Mellin (born July 21, 1702 in Trieglaff ; † March 15, 1769 in Heiligenbeil ) was a Prussian colonel , chief of garrison regiment No. 11 and knight of the Pour le Mérite .

Life

origin

He came from the Pomeranian branch of the Mellin family . His parents were Georg (Jürgen) von Mellin (* May 1, 1668; † December 1741), heir to Trieglaff , and his wife Elisabeth Hedwig von Mellenthin.

Military career

In 1735 Mellin was second lieutenant in the regiment "Alt-Schwerin" No. 24 and rose there to May 1756 to colonel.

Mellin was involved in the battles of Mollwitz , Chotusitz , Hohenfriedberg , Prague and Roßbach . He was seriously injured in the battle of Kay . In February 1760 the king transferred him to the "Manteuffel" garrison regiment No. 11 as chief because of his injuries.

family

He was married to Christina Henriette von Kanderbach (* May 18, 1719, † December 18, 1781). The couple had the following children:

  • Gotthilf Christian Kurt (* August 4, 1748; † June 24, 1800) ∞ Sophie Henriette Johanna von Schmeling (* January 21, 1754; † May 1, 1839)

  • Sophie Henriette Eleonore (* February 10, 1755) ∞ Karl (Kurt) Heinrich von Manteuffel (* October 2, 1728; † December 10, 1802)
