Henri Hohenemser

Henri Hohenemser (born October 6, 1946 in Munich , † September 5, 2014 in Gießen ) was a German theater director , actor and visual artist .

life and career

Hohenemser was an assistant at the Schiller Theater in Berlin and at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg . Here he worked a. a. with George Tabori , Hans Schweikart , Boy Gobert , Samuel Beckett , Fritz Kortner , Boleslaw Barlog , Hans Hollmann , Jürgen Flimm and Otto Schenk .

He then began as a director at the theaters of Oberhausen , Ingolstadt , the Thalia-Theater Hamburg and the theater in the Kunsthalle Hamburg .

For a few years he worked at various city theaters, for example at the Bremerhaven City Theater (1973/74) and at the theater in Essen (1974 to 1978).

From 1978 to 1984 he was at the Stadttheater Gießen as well as with guest productions a. a. at the Schauspielhaus Zürich and the Staatstheater Darmstadt .

From 1985 he took over the chief positions at the theaters in Augsburg and Ingolstadt .

Since 1993 he has worked as a freelance director at various companies, including a. Theater Bielefeld , Theater Erfurt , Oldenburg State Theater , Theater Pforzheim , Theater Regensburg , City Theater Trier and the Castle Festival in Ettlingen .

In 2002 he also became a lecturer at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts in the drama department. Teaching positions also took him to the Justus Liebig University of Gießen (applied theater studies and German studies ) and to the University of Augsburg (in the German studies department).
