Henry F. Holland

Henry Finch Holland (* 15. September 1912 in Brownsville , Texas ; † 18th July 1962 in Greenwich , Connecticut ) was an American lawyer and diplomat , among others 1954-1956 Assistant Secretary of State for Inter-American Affairs in US State Department was.

Life

Henry Finch Holland, son of Ralph E. Holland and Ruth Finch Holland, began after attending the Sewanee Military Academy in Sewanee in 1929 an undergraduate degree at the University of the South there and completed this in 1933 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA). A subsequent postgraduate study of law at the University of Texas at Austin he completed in 1936 with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.). After his legal admission to the Bar of Texas (Texas Bar Association) , he was from 1936 to 1942 as a lawyer in San Antonio worked and was followed from 1942 to 1945 employees of the embassy in Mexico , he 1945-1954 as a lawyer at in Houston- based law firm Baker, Botts, Andrews & Shepherd worked.

On March 2, 1954, Holland succeeded John Moors Cabot as head of the Inter-American Affairs Division, Assistant Secretary of State for Inter-American Affairs at the State Department. He held this office until September 13, 1956, before Roy R. Rubottom took over on June 18, 1957. In 1957, he was also an attorney with the Bar Association of New York (New York Bar Association) approved and was subsequently co-owner of the law firm of Roberts & Holland . He also served on the advisory board of the American Law Institute , as a trustee of the Council on Foreign Relations, and as a member of the American Society for International Law and the Pan American Society .

His marriage to Ann Elizabeth Adams on May 20, 1939 resulted in a daughter and two sons.
