Hentai Kamen (Japanese HK 変 態 仮 面 , eng. "Perverse mask") is a Japanese superhero film from 2013 that contains many elements of a comedy film or a parody . It is based on Keishū Ando's manga series Kyūkyoku !! Hentai Kamen .

action

The high school student Kyosuke, son of a dominatrix and a policeman who died early, has a strong sense of justice and always tries to help when the weak are suppressed. However, he is such a subpar Kempō fighter that he often loses.

When the new student Aiko joins his class, Kyosuke falls in love with her. However, Aiko is taken hostage in a bank robbery. Kyosuke sneaks into the changing room and accidentally masks himself with a pair of panties. The fragrance awakens his “perverse superpowers”, a combination of his mother's shamelessness and his father's sense of justice, so that Kyosuke faces the hostage-takers in a bizarre costume made of mask panties, mankini and stockings. He fights them with "perverse" (ie homoerotic , exhibitionistic and bondage- heavy) Kempō techniques and defeats them by ramming his crotch into their faces with superhuman force. From then on he fights against injustice as Hentai Kamen, stealing panties in impossible situations, and comes closer to Aiko in his civil identity.

One day the neighboring karate club shows up to take control of its school, as its leader Tamao Oogane is after a treasure that is under the school building. Hentai Kamen defeats Oogane and forces the gangsters to retreat. In the following years, Oogane sends bizarre hired killers, but the Hentai Kamen defeat them all. Eventually Oogane dispatches the teacher Towatari, who poses as Hentai Kamen and damages his reputation by looking women under the skirt. In the fight against the evil Hentai Kamen, Kyosuke is defeated, as he turns out to be an even bigger pervert.

Kyosuke gives up his superhero identity and goes on with his normal life. But when the gangsters kidnap Aiko, he overcomes his inner conflict. He faces the evil Hentai Kamen again and defeats him with the last of his strength. Then Oogane takes the opportunity and attacks the school with a huge mecha . Kyosuke asks Aiko for her slip and defeats the mecha with the maximum of his powers. The two become a couple.

A running gag of the film are the many homages to the films with Spider-Man . The opening credits of Hentai Kamen parodies the opening credits of the Spider-Man films, but provides it with panties and bondage ropes. Action scenes from those strips are referenced several times, and in one scene Hentai Kamen swings over the Tokyo skyline with bondage cuffs, just like Spider-Man rushes on his cobwebs over the New York City skyline.

production

The film is based on the manga Kyūkyoku !! Hentai Kamen by Keishu Ando , published in Weekly Shōnen Jump from 1992 to 1993 .

In an interview, lead actor Ryohei Suzuki said that he did a lot of strength training due to the frequent near-nude scenes and ended up weighing “15 kilograms” more. His daring outfit was no problem for him, but it meant that he had to do all the stunts himself. Regarding the unusual premise of Hentai Kamen , he admitted that this was "only possible in Japan", but also reckoned that the film would therefore be received positively abroad.

synchronization

The German synchronization was carried out by TNT Media Synchron based on the dialogue book and directed by Martin Irnich.

reception

The Hollywood Reporter called Hentai Kamen a "bizarre collection of scenes in which the superhero rubs his crotch in opposing faces," but praised the "absurd humor" and the performance of lead actor Ryohei Suzuki.

The film was a financial success. Over 100 million yen were collected, which exceeded expectations many times over.
