Herbert Arndt (lawyer)
Herbert Arndt (born March 4, 1906 in Schöneberg ; † May 7, 1988 in Karlsruhe ) was a German lawyer and a judge at the Federal Court of Justice from 1953 to 1974 .
Life
After graduating from high school in Kolberg in March 1924, Arndt began studying law at the Friedrich-Wilhelm University in Berlin and - in keeping with the time - was also an unskilled worker at Commerz- und Privatbank in Berlin. There he became a member of the Berlin fraternity Franconia (1950 also Berlin fraternity of the Märker ). In the summer semester of 1926 he moved to the University of Kiel , where he passed the legal traineeship in February 1928 . In the summer of 1929 he was awarded a doctorate degree at the University of Kiel with his work The alleged consent as a justification. jur. PhD . He did his legal clerkship in Berlin, Kolberg and most recently as a court trainee in Stettin . After his assessor exam in January 1932, he worked as a lawyer and court assessor in Kolberg. From the end of 1933 Arndt was a district and district judge in Stettin and from 1936 district judge in Altona / Hamburg . In April 1937 he moved to Lübeck and in 1939 he was employed as a district judge in Kiel .
During the Second World War he was drafted into military service in the Air Force in September 1939 and promoted to lieutenant in the reserve in 1940 . At the beginning of 1941 he was again active as a civil judge at the special court in Kiel and was drafted again as a military magistrate at the beginning of 1945. Arndt was a member of the NSDAP .
After the war he worked as district court director in Kiel from around 1948. From 1949 to 1952 he also had a teaching position at the University of Kiel. He had been a member of the examination committee for the Great State Examination in Hamburg since 1951. In January 1953 he was appointed as a federal judge at the Federal Court of Justice in Karlsruhe. He retired in March 1974. From 1957 to 1974 he was editor of the Deutsche Richterzeitung .
Arndt married Lili Tiedemann on June 6, 1933. Together they had a daughter and a son.
