Herbert Fritsche (historian)

Herbert Fritsche (born April 30, 1934 in Kassel ) is a German teacher and historian .

Life

Herbert Fritsche moved to his grandparents in Eschwege in 1943. After graduating from the Friedrich Wilhelm School (FWS) in Eschwege, he studied history, politics and sports for teaching at the Philipps University in Marburg from 1954 . After his legal clerkship in Rotenburg an der Fulda and Kassel as well as the 2nd state examination , he first taught at the Wilhelmschule in Kassel before moving to the FWS in Eschwege in 1963. and taught history, politics and sport there. A decade later, in 1983 he moved to the upper secondary school in Eschwege (OG)

After Herbert Fritsche was initially only appointed provisional head of the FWS in December 1981, he was officially introduced to this position in 1982 and held it until his retirement in 1999.

Parallel to his job, Fritsche led numerous organizations as chairman , see above

  • 1973–1975 the history association,
  • 1973–1986 the Eschweger Turn- und Sportverein 1848 (ETSV), which appointed him honorary chairman in 1988,
  • 1989–2010 the town twinning association , which Fritsche appointed honorary chairman in 2010,
  • 1986–2012 the alumni association of the FWS and the Eschweger Gymnasien , of which Fritsche was appointed honorary chairman in 2012.

Fritsche also volunteered as a gymnastics supervisor on TV 1861/48 , in the Turngau Werra , with the Eschweger tin figures and miniature friends and in the Werra Valley Association . Fritsche also worked temporarily as an archivist for the city of Eschwege.

In addition, Fritsche collected information about all streets of Eschweg, famous personalities, customs , important events and buildings of the city in decades of work, for a long time on index cards . In 2015, part of this knowledge was reflected in the Eschwege lexicon edited by the historian and director of the Eschweg city archive, Karl Kollmann . The reference work for the Eschweg region . At the presentation of the 848-page work in the Eschweg town hall, Fritsche was made an honorary citizen of the city.
