Herbert Kiper , even Herbert Kieper , (* 17th April 1897 in Wiesbaden ; † 9. April 1978 in West Berlin ) was a German actor , singer and playwright .

Life

Kiper had been engaged as an operetta tenor at the Meinhard Bernauer Theaters in Berlin since 1914 . He has made guest appearances on stages in Prague and Zurich . In the film, Kiper worked in small and medium roles in the silent film . At the beginning of the sound film era , the director Carl Boese cast him in small roles in some of his rather shallow comedies. During the time of National Socialism , Kiper was banned from performing.

After the Second World War , Kiper took his stage career again; He appeared again in operettas at the Metropol Theater and was also active as a playwright .

In the early days of DEFA , Kiper was used frequently; in particular, he appeared there in comic roles. For example, he played the inland boatman Otto Woitasch in the comedy Der Kahn der Happy Menschen (1950). His other well-known DEFA roles include the "patente" father Krause in the comedy Modell Bianka (1951), the Dr. Falke in the musical comedy Rauschende Melodien , a film based on motifs from the operetta Die Fledermaus , and the "sympathetic" Fritz Retting in the revue film Meine Frau macht Musik .
