Herbert Pomp

Herbert Pomp (born April 19, 1909 in Drebach , Erzgebirge , † April 26, 1980 in Karl-Marx-Stadt ) was a German party functionary ( KPD / SED ) and resistance fighter against the Nazi regime .

Life

Pomp, the son of a construction worker and a homeworker , attended elementary school and completed an apprenticeship as a locksmith in Chemnitz from 1923 to 1927 . In 1923 he joined the SAJ , in 1924 the KJVD and in 1931 the KPD . From 1931 he worked as a volunteer instructor for the KPD in the Chemnitz sub-district leadership.

After the " seizure of power " by the National Socialists in 1933, he was arrested and was held in so-called " protective custody " until 1934 . After his release, Pomp was entrusted with the rebuilding of the illegal organization in Essen and the Krupp works by the Berlin management. In July 1934, he replaced the district instructor Alfred Hausser , who had previously been able to establish contacts with the KPD district leadership under Karl Schabrod . In December 1934, Pomp was arrested again. The Hamm Higher Regional Court sentenced him to ten years and four months in prison . Pomp was first imprisoned in the Münster penitentiary , then in the Dieburg penal camp .

In 1945 he was freed from the prison camp by US troops. Pomp returned to Chemnitz and immediately returned to the service of the KPD. He took part in the unification congress of the KPD and SPD on 21./22. April 1946 in Berlin and became a member of the SED.

In the fall of 1947, Pomp was appointed as special representative of the SED state executive for the SAG Wismut together with Kurt Böhme, Robert Kessler and Ernst Wabra . They formed the Ore Mining Works Party Organization, which was renamed the Aue II district party organization at the end of 1947 . Later Pomp was a member and secretary of the SED area leadership in Wismut until 1966.

Pomp last lived as a veteran in Karl-Marx-Stadt , was a member of the commission for the care of deserving party members of the party organization Wismut and until his death in 1980 he was also a member of the management of the Karl-Marx-Stadt city committee of the anti-fascist resistance fighters' committee .
