Herbert Richter (actor)

Herbert Richter (born August 28, 1898 in Siemianowitz , † after 1965) was a German actor.

Life

After training as an actor, Richter initially worked at theaters in Hamburg and Koblenz , then in Berlin , where he played at the Prussian State Theater , the Lessing Theater and the Theater am Schiffbauerdamm before 1945 . After the Second World War, he worked at the Deutsches Theater under the management of Wolfgang Langhoff until the end of the 1950s .

In addition to his work at DT, Richter also starred in a number of DEFA films. As a rule, he was used in supporting roles, he had larger roles in 1951 as Franz Nölte in Die Meereruf and in 1952 as Captain Kleiers in Anna Susanna . He took on his first and only leading role, the VEAB director Amann, in Günter Reisch's directorial debut Young Vegetables (1956).

After the Wall was built , Richter initially lived in West Berlin . Nothing is known about his whereabouts since the mid-1960s.

  1. Habel / Wachter give Richter an "apprenticeship with A. Starkosch", but this must be based on an error, since the recitation teacher Alexander Strakosch , who was obviously meant to be, died in 1909 when Richter was just 11 years old.
