history

In September 1939 the hamlet of Herbsdorf consisted of eight farmers. A total of around 60 souls lived there with servants, maidservants and their children. By then, tractors and electrical energy had long since found their way into the world. When the war began on September 1, 1939, the sons capable of military service were drafted. As a replacement, the larger farmers were each assigned a French prisoner from 1940 . From 1943 onwards, several city families were assigned to avoid the intensifying bomb attacks. The townspeople had a difficult time with food, so they had to rely on mild gifts from local maids.

It makes sense that there was a radar station next to the house that the family of Hitler's adjutant Wilhelm Brückner had moved into . Visible from afar, the bowl, which could be swiveled up and down, rose into the air. Not that the Allies did not notice the radar, because thousands of tinfoil strips were dropped to dazzle it, but the radar was not attacked. It didn't bother the circles of the bombers either, because up to 500 machines pulled their orbits in broad daylight and flew over the Chiemsee to the northwest.

At night you could see the firelight of the burning city of Munich . Sometimes the Traunstein-Trostberg train was shot at by hunters, then the passengers fled into the nearby forest. The children had white sheets in their satchels as camouflage for the way to school to Nussdorf in winter, but were never shot at.
