Heribert Klein

Heribert Klein (born February 15, 1957 in Hachenburg ; † February 9, 2005 in Limburg an der Lahn ) was a German musicologist , organist , journalist and publicist .

Life

Klein came from the Westerwald . He studied school and church music with a focus on organ at the Cologne University of Music as well as German , musicology and pedagogy at the University of Cologne . 1978/79 he completed an organ specialized study to Frescobaldi interpretations at Ferruccio Vignanelli in Rome and in 1987 in musicology about Girolamo Frescobaldi for Dr. phil. PhD . In 1982/83 he received a scholarship from the German Music Council .

From 1987 to the end of 2003, Klein worked in the economic department of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and for the FAZ-Magazin , where he interviewed and portrayed numerous international personalities from business and politics. In 2003/04 he was the editor in charge of ThyssenKrupp magazine .

He wrote several books, including about the Jesuit priest Oswald von Nell-Breuning and the work The Signs of Our Time together with the former Tagesthemen moderator Ulrich Wickert .

In addition to his full-time activity as a journalist, he was an organist in the Parish and Pallottine Church of St. Marien , where he also initiated and promoted the Orgel Plus concert series and the Zeitzeichen lecture series . He also worked as an organist at the High Cathedral in Limburg and most recently at the Woehl organ in the Catholic parish church of St. Lubentius in Dietkirchen . Towards the end of the 1970s he gave numerous organ concerts to the public as part of his studies in Rome. a. in a chapel in the Vatican, where he u. a. Impressively interpreted works by Johann Sebastian Bach and Claude Debussy .

Heribert Klein was married and the father of three children. He died of a serious illness in Limburg on February 9, 2005, 6 days before his 48th birthday.
