Herman Roosdorp
Herman Roosdorp (born April 19, 1895 in Haarlem ; † January 1, 1965 ) was a Belgian racing driver of Dutch origin.
Career
Herman Roosdorp was born in the Netherlands, but lived most of his life in neighboring Belgium and had a Belgian driver's license. In the Antwerp district of Borgerhout he ran a specialist automobile workshop . Among other things, he sold Standard Vanguard vehicles . He was the first Dutchman to own a Ferrari , and in 1948 he bought one of the first Ferrari 166 MM delivered
Roosdorp was active as a racing driver between 1949 and 1953. He made his international debut at the 1949 Spa-Francorchamps 24-hour race , where he finished eighth overall with Adolf De Ridder on his Ferrari. At Spa 24 Hours him also achieved his best result. In 1953 , this race was part of the sports car world championship , which Roosdorp, as a partner of Toni Ulmen, finished third overall. He achieved another third final place in the 12-hour race in Paris in 1950 .
The Roosdorp Cup , which was awarded by journalists at national races in Zandvoort until the 1960s, goes back to him .
