Jürgen Schwarz (politician)

Jürgen Schwarz (born September 1, 1937 in Forst (Lausitz) ) is a German politician ( DSU ). He was a member of the People's Chamber of the GDR and a member of the Dresden City Council.

Life

After graduating from high school, Schwarz studied history and geography at the TU Dresden . He worked as a qualified teacher for geography and history at the POS "Lilo Herrmann" in Boxdorf . The non-party black also taught civics and was given the honorary title of senior teacher . In 1990 he became chairman of the Saxon History Teachers Association.

In January 1990, Schwarz joined the German Social Union (DSU) and, after the Volkskammer election in 1990, was a member of the first freely elected GDR parliament. He was spokesman for the DSU parliamentary group and chairman of the media committee. On June 17, 1990, in a special session, Schwarz demanded that the GDR join the Federal Republic of Germany immediately, but this was rejected.

In June 1990 he was elected the first deputy federal chairman of the DSU after he had narrowly failed his candidacy for the Saxon state chair against his colleague Norbert Koch . In the state election in Saxony in 1990 , Schwarz unsuccessfully ran as the top candidate for the DSU.

From 1994 to 2004 Jürgen Schwarz was a city councilor in Dresden, most recently in a joint parliamentary group with the FDP . Until 2009, Schwarz was a member of the Klotzsche local council . In the 2015 election of Dresden's mayor, Schwarz appeared as chairman of the “Independent Citizens for Dresden eV” association, which supported Dirk Hilbert's successful candidacy .
