Hermann Kokenge
Hermann Kokenge (born May 12, 1949 in Cappeln ; † December 25, 2014 ) was a German landscape architect and rector of the Technical University of Dresden .
Life
After graduating from high school in 1970, Kokenge completed an apprenticeship as a gardener from 1970 to 1972 . From 1972 to 1980 he studied land maintenance and landscape architecture at the Technical University of Munich in Weihenstephan and at the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz University of Hanover . From 1980 he worked in various landscape architecture offices , from 1982 as a research assistant at the Institute for Landscape Planning at the University of Stuttgart . From 1985 onwards he worked at the Green Space Office of the City of Cologne , most recently as horticultural director. He successfully took part in various architecture competitions.
In 1993 he was appointed professor of landscape architecture, open space and landscaping at the TU Dresden appointed . From 1996 to 1997 Kokenge was director of the Institute for Landscape Architecture, from 1997 to 2000 Dean of the Faculty of Architecture . From 2000 to 2003 he was Vice Rector for Science at TUD. On October 1, 2003, he was elected rector of the TU Dresden to succeed Achim Mehlhorn . On November 1, 2006, he was confirmed in his office for three more years and handed over the office to his successor Hans Müller-Steinhagen in 2010 .
Kokenge was a member of the German Academy for Urban Development and Regional Planning . Until 1994 he was chairman of the Rhineland regional group of the German Society for Garden Art and Landscape Culture . In addition, he was a member of the scientific advisory board of the Academic European Seminar AES of the European Institute for Postgraduate Education (EIPOS, an affiliated institute of the TU Dresden ) and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Forum Tiberius . He also chaired the Board of Trustees of the Saxon Architects Foundation .
Hermann Kokenge and Christoph Ritter have been running an office for landscape and open space planning in Dresden since 1999. He was married, had three children and a grandson and lived in Radebeul .
