Hermann Ploetz

Hermann Ploetz (born October 31, 1870 in Cretlow in Pomerania , † November 3, 1946 in Treffling in Carinthia ) was a German writer and art critic.

Life

Hermann Ploetz was born on October 31, 1870 in Cretlow (now in Polish: Kretlewo , part of the municipality of Golczewo ) in Pomerania . He spent his childhood in Wollin .

He decided to become a teacher, attended the teacher training college in Cammin and then worked as a preparation teacher in Tribsees . From 1895 he worked in Stettin , first as a teacher, then as a school principal. During the Second World War he was evacuated from Szczecin; on November 3, 1946 he died in Treffling in Carinthia.

Hermann Ploetz made a name for himself in Stettin as a writer and art critic. Together with his colleague Hugo Kaeker from Szczecin , he published three small selected volumes in 1925, “Pommersche Heimatdichtung”. He was also involved in the Dürerbund , the Richard Wagner Foundation and the Homeland Security Federation .
