Hermann Vogler (politician)

Hermann Vogler (born October 12, 1944 in Konstanz ) is a CDU local politician from Baden-Württemberg and was Lord Mayor of the city of Ravensburg from 1987 to 2010 .

Life

After graduating from high school in Bad Wurzach in 1964 , he first worked for a few years in his parents' company in Unteruhldingen . From 1968 to 1972 he studied landscape architecture at the Technical University of Munich . In 1974 he was elected director of the regional association Bodensee-Oberschwaben and in 1987 he was elected mayor of the city of Ravensburg. He is a member of the district council of the Ravensburg district and of the main committee of the German Association of Cities . Since 2009 he has also been chairman of the regional association Bodensee-Oberschwaben.

On his 65th birthday, October 12, 2009, he announced that he would step down as Lord Mayor on May 31, 2010, one year before the end of his third term on May 31, 2011. On March 28, 2010 Daniel Rapp was elected as his successor on June 1, 2010. On May 20, 2010, Vogler was ceremoniously bid farewell and was awarded the honorary citizenship of the city of Ravensburg.

Hermann Vogler has been a lecturer in ecology for many years at the University of Applied Sciences for Technology, Economics and Design (HTWG Konstanz) ; he was appointed honorary professor by the state of Baden-Württemberg . He is married and has three daughters.

From 2013 to September 2019 Hermann Vogler was the managing director of the Baden-Württemberg Monument Foundation .
