Hermann Wahlen

Hermann Jakob Wahlen (born July 18, 1901 in Bern , † November 7, 1990 in Burgdorf BE ), reformed , resident in Rubigen , was a Swiss writer and educator .

Life

Born to his parents, the saddler Johannes Wahlen and Rosette, Hermann Wahlen, who grew up in Bern and on his grandparents' farm in Entfelden , received training as a primary school teacher at the Muristalden seminar in Bern. After Wahlen had taught at the comprehensive school in Freimettigen since 1922 , he completed further training as a secondary teacher in Bern and Paris .

In 1930 he took up a teaching position at the secondary school in Lützelflüh , in 1944 he took over the supervision of the districts of Aarwangen and Trachselwald as a school inspector , in 1956 he switched to the same function in the districts of Burgdorf and Wangen , and in 1970 he retired.

Hermann Wahlen, who was also involved in the education commission of the Economic and Charitable Society of the Canton of Bern (OGG) and in the commission for peasant culture of the Swiss Agricultural Association (SLV), was married to Margaritha, the daughter of the farmer Friedrich Rutschi. He died in 1990 at the age of 89 in Burgdorf.

Hermann Wahlen emerged as the author of over 200 publications, including biographies , educational history and educational policy presentations, anniversary publications as well as local and time-critical considerations. His estate is kept by the Bern Burger Library.
