Hidetoshi Nakanishi

Hidetoshi Nakanishi ( Japanese 中西 英 敏 , Nakanishi Hidetoshi ; born June 3, 1958 ) is a former Japanese judoka . In 1983 he was world champion in lightweight, the weight class up to 71 kilograms.

The 1.68 m tall Nakanishi won the Jigoro Kano Cup in 1981 and 1982, and in 1982 he also won the Tournoi de Paris . In 1982 and 1983 he won the Japanese championships. At the 1983 World Championships in Moscow , he defeated Tamaz Namgalauri from the Soviet Union in the quarter -finals, the French Richard Melillo in the semifinals and the Italian Ezio Gamba in the final . At the 1984 Summer Olympics he was defeated in the quarterfinals by South Korean Ahn Byeong-keun . In the hope round , he defeated the Irish Kieran Foley , but then lost the battle for bronze against the British Kerrith Brown .
