action

Syd is a young editor at the art magazine Frame . When she knocks at the neighbour's house because of water damage, she meets Lucy. Syd tries to repair the water damage and notices Lucy's photographs. Enthusiastic about her work, she wants to publish her pictures in Frame . It turns out that Lucy is none other than Lucy Berliner, a well-known artist who turned her back on the art market ten years ago. Syd gets Lucy to record a new series for the cover of the magazine. Lucy and Syd drive to the country together, where Syd becomes Lucy's lover. Lucy takes some pictures of Syd, they can be seen together on a self-timer photograph.

Lucy lives with Greta, a German actress whose best days are long behind her. As Lucy and Syd begin to fall in love, the tension between Lucy and Greta builds. In addition, both are addicted to heroin, but Lucy wants to cure her addiction after separating from Greta. It turns out differently: On the last night with Greta, Lucy dies of an overdose.

Syd doesn't know anything about Lucy's death when she discusses the selection of photos for the next issue in the editorial office. She first presents older photos with Greta, which, however , are described as flat . Only then does she reluctantly come out with the new photos of Lucy, which mostly show Syd herself. The series has been enthusiastically received by the editors. The photo on which Lucy and Syd can be seen together is used for the front page. After learning that Lucy has died, Syd walks apathetically and desperately through Frame's offices at the end of the film . Lucy's photo series was a complete success, but that no longer matters to her.

Reviews

“The portrait of an art scene below the level perceived by the public, which is stylistically immersed in an atmosphere of standstill and drug-induced anesthesia. Limited to a few locations, the film depicts a way of life marked by flight and depression in a gloomy, dull light, but towards the end it increasingly suppresses the discussion of the subject of life and art. "

The film was described on www.schnitt.de as being unusually stylish , the pictures and the soundtrack were highly praised.
