The Himmelschrofen is a 1791 m high mountain in the Allgäu Alps . It separates the Trettachtal from the Stillachtal . The ridge that runs up to the Trettachspitze is named after him as the Himmelschrofenzug . Although it only has summit points with 1672 m , 1780 m and 1790 m , it dominates the mountain scenery in the south of Oberstdorf due to its proximity . First in the Illertal , for example near Sonthofen, you can see from the Allgäu main ridge towering behind the Himmelschrofen, how comparatively low the mountain is.
There are no marked hiking trails on the Himmelschrofen, only hunter trails that are difficult to find.
