The Stillachtal (named after the Stillach river , which runs through the valley) is the western of the two (next to the Trettachtal ) large Alpine valleys south of Oberstdorf in the Allgäu . On the eastern side of the valley it is framed by the mountains Himmelschrofen , Wildgundkopf , Schmalhorn , Wildengundkopf , Trettachspitze and on the western side by Söllereck , Söllerkopf , Fellhorn , Griesgundkopf and Alpgundkopf .

Since the mid- 1970s , the Stillachtal has been open to public transport as far as the hamlet Faistenoy (valley station of the Fellhornbahn ). In addition to the Fellhorn, the Heini-Klopfer ski flying hill is one of the most famous excursion destinations in this valley. Further into the valley you can take a bus to Birgsau .

At the southern end of the valley there is the isolated settlement of Einödsbach , the southernmost permanently inhabited place in Germany . Further south, the Rappenalptal follows as a “continuation” .
