The Hinterbach is the 9.5 km long right source brook of the Finkenbach . The map of the Hessian Ministry for the Environment, Climate Protection, Agriculture and Consumer Protection WFD in Hesse gives contradicting information as to whether it has the same water code 238968 as the Finkenbach .
geography
course
The Hinterbach arises in the Odenwald north of Oberzent - Olfen , within the fauna and flora habitat Red Water of Olfen on the border between the district of Wald-Michelbach - Affolterbach and Oberzent-Olfen. It initially flows south, its main flow direction, which it essentially maintains until its confluence with the Falkengesäßerbach , through a wet meadow . After crossing under Eichenstrasse , it runs along the eastern outskirts of Olfen and crosses the village. Between Klein Knöschen on the right and Hortel on the left, his path runs through a meadow that is narrowly delimited by woods to the right and left . After moving to the area of Oberzent- Raubach , his meadow area expanded. Its course now leads to the right of the Kleiner Tal and to the left of the Saubuche and a little further south of the Menschenkopf and the Leonhardskopf . After a long way past the Fichtelberg and the Steinberg , it reaches the northern edge of Oberzent- Hinterbach . It passes Hinterbach and finally reaches Oberzent- Finkenbach , where it joins the Falkengesäßerbach to form the Finkenbach .
Catchment area
The 17.1 km² catchment area of the Hinterbach lies in the sandstone forest and is drained to the North Sea via the Finkenbach, Laxbach , Neckar and Rhine rivers.
It borders
- in the northeast on that of the Marbach , a tributary of the Mümling that in the Main empties
- in the east to that of the Finkenbach
- in the west to that of the Ulfenbach tributary Dürr-Ellenbach
- and in the northwest to that of the Ulfenbach itself, the right source brook of the Laxbach .
The highest point is the 548 m high Spessartkopf in the north-northwest of the catchment area.
The catchment area is almost completely forested.
Dates and character
The Hinterbach is an approx. 9.5 km long, fine material rich, silicate mountain brook. Its catchment area is limited to the west by that of the Ulfenbach , north by the Marbach , a Mümling tributary and east by the Falkengesäßerbach .
Attractions
The last remaining hydraulic ram of the Odenwald is in Oberzent-Hinterbach .
