The Hintere Breg is a 4.5 km long low mountain range in the urban area of Furtwangen in the Black Forest in the Black Forest-Baar district of Baden-Württemberg , which flows into the upper Breg from the right in the city center .

geography

course

The Hintere Breg rises south of the Rothansenhof at about 1000  m above sea level. NN . It soon flows northwest through the Mäderstal. Then it slowly changes to northeast. In Furtwangen on the university grounds, it finally flows in an east-northeast direction at about 853  m above sea level. NN into the upper Breg, which is not twice as long here . Overall, it therefore makes an almost semicircular arc to the north to the left around the local mountain ( 1028.8  m above sea level ). Your sole falls on this route with an average of about 32 ‰.

Catchment area

The Hintere Breg has a catchment area of 10 km², which is naturally included in the sub-area of the Southeastern Black Forest of the Black Forest . In the longest extent it extends from its maximum point to about 1110  m above sea level. NN southeast of the Hinteren-Breg-Quelle at the Rothansenhof near the summit of the Kohlwasens ( 1112  m above sea level ) almost 6.0 km north-northwest to about the Raben; across it it is at most just over 3 km wide.

In the north and east it borders on the catchment area of the receiving Breg . The Linach rises in the southeast just across the watershed, and for a short stretch a tributary of the Urach rises . Both ultimately drain into the Breg and with it the Danube , the following ones into the Wilde Gutach and thus over the Elz to the Rhine , which is why the western watershed is part of the European main watershed between the two large rivers. In the southwest, the right upper course of the Heubach competes with the Wilde Gutach, further north its own tributary Bregenbach , most recently the Wilde-Gutach tributary Teichbach .

The entire catchment area lies in the urban area of Furtwangen. The greater part of it is forested. Newer settlements take up a large part of the left slope from the inlet of the Staatsbergbach.
