The Hirschberg is a 1660 m high mountain in the Walchen and Kochelsee Mountains in the Bavarian Prealps .
Location and surroundings
It is located about four kilometers east of Eschenlohe and five kilometers west of the Walchensee . Ohlstadt is three kilometers north . The valley of the Eschenlaine runs south of the mountain , behind which the Estergebirge adjoins with Simetsberg and Hohe Kisten .
Apart from its main summit, the massif has several other summit points. About 500 meters to the north is the 1542 m high Ölrain , from which a pronounced mountain ridge extends west to the 1368 m high Osterfeuerspitze .
The Hirschberg is wooded up to the summit area. On the steeper southern side of the forest is part of Schrofen interspersed.
ways
A forest road leads from Eschenlohe up the mountain on the south and east side to the Wankhütte ( 1364 m ) north of the Ölrain . This route can also be covered by mountain bike . From the north, from Ohlstadt, the Wankhütte can be reached via a hiking trail. From the Wankhütte the ascent leads partly pathless, partly on a narrow path east past the Ölrain and then on to the Hirschberg.
