The Hochstein is 1134 m above sea level. NHN high spur of the Heugstatt mountain ( 1262 m ) in the Bavarian Forest . Belonging to the Arber massif natural area, it is located in the municipality of Drachselsried in the Bavarian district of Regen .
The Hochstein rises northeast above the Zellertal with Drachselsried and the villages of Blachendorf , Rehberg , Oberried and Unterried, which belong to this municipality . The municipality of Arnbruck connects to the west, that of Lohberg to the north and that of Bodenmais to the south-east .
From its mighty rock bar with a summit cross , the view not only extends over the entire Zellertal, but also as far as the ridge of the Upper Bavarian Forest and the area of the Bavarian Forest National Park with the Großer Rachel and in the opposite direction to the Kaitersberg . On clear days with the influence of the foehn, the view extends to the Alps .
Marked hiking trails from Arnbruck, Drachselsried, Oberried, Schareben and Bodenmais lead to the Hochstein , although the last section is quite steep and rocky.
