The Reichenbach flood retention basin (also Reichenbachsee Spraitbach ) is located near Spraitbach near Schwäbisch Gmünd in Baden-Württemberg in the Ostalb district .
The dam is an earth dam and dams the Reichenbach , a tributary of the Lein , to a small permanent reservoir with a capacity of only 45,000 m³ and an area of 2.85 hectares. Most of the reservoir is only filled during floods .
The flood retention basin belongs to the water association Kocher-Lein. This flood retention basin (HRB) was created - like ten other HRB along the Lein - by the water association Kocher-Lein. With the construction of these flood retention basins, the risk of flooding in the Leintal and in the middle Kochertal should be reduced. The reservoir is also used for local recreation.
Leisure information
The reservoir is a managed fishing water. The main fish species are pike, perch, carp, tench, eel and whitefish species.
