The court was originally an allod of the Lords of Eppstein . In 1379 it is mentioned as a fiefdom of the noble family of forest masters von Gelnhausen , in 1416 the von Breitenbach family from Gelnhausen and later Count Christoph von Stolberg . 1545 bought the guardianship of Count Philip III. von Hanau-Munzenberg Hof Eich and unites it with the Altenhaßlau office .

After the death of the last Hanau count, Johann Reinhard III. , 1736, Landgrave Friedrich I of Hessen-Kassel inherited the county of Hanau-Münzenberg and thus also Hof Eich on the basis of an inheritance contract from 1643. 1674–1768 Hof Eich was given to the von Edelsheim as a fief; in 1779 Prince Karl of Hessen-Kassel was enfeoffed with the court.

In 1821 Hof Eich, now located in the " Electorate of Hesse ", called Hesse-Kassel, came to the newly formed district of Gelnhausen during a fundamental administrative reform carried out there . In 1895 there were 73 residents in 11 houses. The mill was abandoned at the beginning of the 20th century. In the 1930s, the leadership of the Untergau Kinzigtal of the Association of German Girls was housed here.

On September 1, 1970, the four previously independent communities of Altenhaßlau , Eidengesäß , Geislitz (including the Eich farm) and Großenhausen merged to form the new community of Linsengericht . With the Hessian district reform , the Gelnhausen district then merged into the Main-Kinzig district in 1974 .
