history
The village was first mentioned around 1370 in a validity register of the Selbold monastery . In the Middle Ages the village belonged to the Altenhaßlau court , from which the Altenhaßlau office developed, which belonged to the Hanau rulership , later to the Hanau county and finally to the Hanau-Münzenberg county . Before and after the Reformation the village was parish in Altenhaßlau . The Reformation took the Reformed direction here - as in the entire county of Hanau-Munzenberg - after 1597 .
After the death of the last Hanau count, Johann Reinhard III. , 1736, Landgrave Friedrich I of Hessen-Kassel inherited the county of Hanau-Münzenberg and with it the village of Geislitz on the basis of an inheritance contract from 1643. In 1821 the village, now in the " Electorate of Hesse " called Hessen-Kassel, came to the newly formed district of Gelnhausen when a fundamental administrative reform was carried out there . The first school was built in 1911. In 1956 the town hall and the Protestant church were added. With the Hessian district reform , the Gelnhausen district then merged with the Main-Kinzig district in 1974 .
Through the voluntary amalgamation of four previously independent municipalities, Geislitz founded the municipality of Linsengericht together with Altenhaßlau , Eidengesäß and Großenhausen on September 1, 1970 as part of the regional reform in Hesse .
A kindergarten was opened in 1985.
