Upper Rossfeld

The Hohen Roßfelder , also referred to in the singular as Hohes Roßfeld , Roßfeldalm or just Roßfeld , are two neighboring steep alpine meadows east and above the Königssees in the Gotzenberge , the Bavarian part of the Hagengebirge .

location

The Hohen Roßfelder are located above the Priesbergalm , which is 1460 meters above sea level, and below the 2184 meter high Fagstein . They are located in the State Forest District XVII Priesberg of the Königssee Forest , an area that was previously free from municipalities and since January 1, 1984 a district of the municipality of Schönau am Königssee .

The northwestern Lower Roßfeld with an area of around 30 hectares is at 1600 to 1800 meters and the Upper Roßfeld with 23 hectares at 1800 to 2000 meters. The two alpine meadows are separated from each other by the Kammerlwand.

The now derelict Kaser of the Roßfeldalm was located on the southern edge of the Upper Roßfeld.

use

Agriculture

Today, the alpine pastures are knocked down with young cattle from the Priesbergalm .

tourism

The Hohen Roßfelder is not a classic hiking destination, as there are no marked and signposted hiking trails there, but a variant of the Kleinen Reibn ski tour leads across the area. The Hohen Roßfelder owe their name to the fact that they used to be used as mountain pastures for young horses .
