Holger Zebu Kluth

Holger Zebu Kluth (born March 29, 1962 in Bad Schwartau ) is a German dramaturge and cultural manager . Since October 2017 he has been the rector of the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts .

Life

Kluth grew up in the Hanseatic city of Lübeck . In 1981 he obtained the higher education entrance qualification at the  Thomas-Mann-Gymnasium  in Lübeck. After his community service, Kluth studied theater studies and German literature at the Free University of Berlin from 1983 to 1993 and completed his studies with a master's thesis on " Moriz Seeler and the Junge Bühne Berlin". From 1992 to 1996 Kluth worked as a dramaturge in public relations at the Hebbel Theater in Berlin .

1995 Kluth founded together with u. a. Jochen Sandig , Sasha Waltz and Dirk Cieslak (Lubricat) the Berlin sophiensaele . Even before the house opened in 1996, he was appointed artistic director of the Theater am Halleschen Ufer (today's Hebbel am Ufer - HAU 2), which he directed until 2001. Under his leadership, the house developed into a place known far beyond Berlin for contemporary dance , performance and forms of post-dramatic theater . At that time, Kluth was also active as a representative of the independent theater scene in the " Council for the Arts " and as a lecturer at the Institute for Theater Studies at the Free University of Berlin . In 2000 he founded Tanznacht Berlin together with the dance dramaturge Björn Dirk Schlüter and the directors of the Tanzfabrik Berlin Claudia Feest and Eva-Marie Hoerster.

From 2001 to 2004 Kluth worked as a freelance dramaturge a. a. at the Lubricat group. Together with its director Dirk Cieslak, he developed the MUTATION project, which resulted in theater productions in Lagos , Richmond , Buenos Aires and Shanghai as well as a joint production by all those involved from the cities of Berlin . The basis of the projects was a joint blog, which was fed by the international artists with everyday experiences from their cities.

From 2004 to 2017 Kluth was managing director of Stäitsch Theaterbetriebs GmbH, which u. a. operates the Hamburger Kammerspiele , the Altonaer Theater and the Harburger Theater in Hamburg. From 2012 he was also the managing director of the nationwide private theater days that he co-founded . From 2012 to 2017 he was also an honorary member of the board of the Theater Hamburg eV, which u. a. the Theater Night Hamburg organized and the Theater Award Hamburg "Rolf Mares" awards.

Kluth is the father of two sons.

Awards

In 2006 and 2007, Kluth received the Hamburg Pegasus Prize for the best artistic performance of the season at the Hamburger Kammerspiele .
