Emergence

Denny Laine - live 1976
Paul and Linda McCartney– live 1976

On August 3, 1971, Paul McCartney announced the formation of the group Wings , of which Denny Laine was a founding member. Laine remained a member of the group until its dissolution in April 1981. Due to the frequent change of personnel, two albums by the group Band on the Run , in full, and London Town , in part, were recorded with three (Laine, Paul and Linda McCartney ).

After the release of the album Wings at the Speed of Sound , the Wings continued their world tour from March 20-26, 1976 with five appearances in continental Europe. Between May 3 and June 23, 1976, the North American tour followed, under the name Wings over America , which included 31 concerts.

In the summer of 1976, probably August, Paul and Linda McCartney and Denny Laine spent three weeks at Paul McCartney's Rude Studio in Campbeltown , Scotland to record ten Buddy Holly songs. Paul McCartney already owned the rights to the Buddy Holly songs at the time of recording. Paul McCartney overdubbed the instrumentation on a four-track tape recorder, similar to his first McCartney solo album . Denny Laine and Linda McCartney partially supplemented these recordings. The songs Lonesome Tears and I'm Looking for Someone to Love are instrumental pieces. For the songs Look at Me and Take Your Time only Denny Laine sings, for the remaining six songs Laine is supported by Paul McCartney and for three songs additionally by Linda McCartney. The orchestrations took place in the Abbey Road Studios in London . The total recording time of the album was three weeks.

The songs Moondreams and Rave On were recorded in stereo , the remaining tracks were recorded in mono and electronically post-processed so that a stereo effect is created.

After the album was completed, the Wings gave four concerts in continental Europe and three concerts in London from September 19 to October 21, 1976.
