Emergence

The Wings live 1976 ( Jimmy McCulloch and Paul McCartney)
Paul McCartney, 1976

Following the release of their album Venus and Mars , the Wings went on their world tour Wings over the World from September 1975 . From September 6 to September 23, 1975 the Wings went on tour in Great Britain and gave 14 concerts; followed by an Australian tour from November 1 to November 14, 1975 with nine concerts. For the first time Paul McCartney sang songs of the Beatles with the Wings, a total of five, while he played none of his solo albums Ram and Wild Life and only Maybe I'm Amazed from his debut album McCartney and only My Love from Red Rose Speedway . Most of the concert program came from the last three Wings number one albums in the USA. The authorship of the five Beatles songs was renamed from Lennon / McCartney to McCartney-Lennon .

After the release of the album Wings at the Speed of Sound , the Wings continued their world tour from March 20-26, 1976 with five appearances in continental Europe.

Between May 3 and June 23, 1976, the North American tour followed, under the name Wings over America, which included 31 concerts. Each of the North American concerts was recorded with a 24-track tape recorder. Between September 19 and October 21, 1976, the Wings gave four concerts in continental Europe and three concerts in London .

Denny Laine - live 1976

The order of the songs on the album is the same as the order of the songs as they were played during the concerts, with the exception of Go Now . Go Now was only played during the three concerts from June 21-23 in Los Angeles and was sung by Denny Laine.

Further concerts by the Wings only took place in November and December 1979.

Wings over America became the sixth number one album for Paul McCartney in the United States.

Cover design
