Strawberries Oceans Ships Forest ( English Strawberries Oceans Ships Forest ) is the first album of the duo The Fireman , consisting of Paul McCartney and Youth there. At the same time, including the Wings albums, the classic albums, the live albums and the compilation albums, it is Paul McCartney's 26th album after the Beatles split up . It was released on November 15, 1993 in the UK and on February 22, 1994 in the US.

Emergence

After completing his solo album Off the Ground , McCartney had the idea to have several mixes made based on the songs on the album. It should essentially be so-called “dance remixes” that Youth, aka Martin Glover, should mix. At the beginning of October 1992, work began at Paul McCartney's Hog Hill Mill Studios in Sussex , where Youth, together with sound engineer Chris Potter and programmer Matt Austin, made samples from the songs from the album Off the Ground and mixed them up, followed by speaking Words from the songs The Broadcast and Reception , both from the Wings album Back to the Egg , as well as "Mellotron Loops" used. Paul McCartney also played acoustic bass, flute and banjo, which was also used for the mixes. After four days, the album was completed on October 11, 1992 and released on November 15, 1993 under the pseudonym The Fireman .

The idea behind the naming is that Paul McCartney's father was a supportive firefighter during World War II . Due to the use of a pseudonym, only a few potential buyers were aware that the two members of The Fireman Paul McCartney and Youth were, so sales of the album were low. It was only with the release of The Fireman's third album Electric Arguments in 2008 that it was officially announced who was behind the pseudonym.

Youth was not happy with the idea of releasing an album that essentially included multiple variations of the same song, as in his opinion it could be disappointing to listen to.

The album was also released as a vinyl double album in clear vinyl.

Cover design

The album cover is kept entirely in red. The front cover reads strawber in the top right corner , while the title continues on the back cover in the top left corner: ries oceans ships forest .
