Working Classical ( English classical work ) is the third classical album of Paul McCartney . At the same time, including the Wings albums, the Fireman albums, the classic albums, the live albums and compilation albums, it is Paul McCartney's 31st album after the Beatles split up . It was released in the UK and USA on October 19, 1999.
Emergence
In contrast to Paul McCartney's Liverpool Oratorio and Standing Stone, Working Classical is not a commissioned work, and the album does not have a uniform theme, but consists of fourteen completed songs. Ten of the fourteen songs are classic reinterpretations of previously published songs by Paul McCartney, only the songs Haymakers , Midwife , Spiral and Tuesday are new compositions.
The first recordings for the album took place on October 10 and 11, 1998 with the London Symphony Orchestra in Abbey Road Studios , where the song Tuesdays was recorded, followed on November 9, 1998 by the songs A Leaf and Spiral . From February 21 to 25, 1999, the remaining songs were recorded with the Loma Mar Quartet, also at Abbey Road Studios. During this recording session, yet another song entitled Nova was completed on September 8, 1999, which was released in a re-recording by The Joyful Company of Singers on the compilation album A Garland for Linda on February 14, 2000.
According to Paul McCartney, the title of the album Working Classical came about when he put the terms 'Working Class' and 'Classical' together, as he was proud that his ancestors came from the working class .
On October 16, 1999, Working Classical was performed at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall by the London Symphony Orchestra and the Loma Mar Quartet. The concert was broadcast on British television.
A double vinyl long-playing record was released in the UK on December 6, 1999.
